Net profit
What is left once every cost and corporate income tax has been taken out of revenue.
Net profit is the bottom line of the financial year: all income less all costs, tax included. A negative figure is a loss.
Unlike revenue, this figure is more open to accounting judgement, so one profitable year does not mean what five consecutive profitable years mean. The series tells you more than the single number.
It is also the amount by which equity grows over the year, if nothing is paid out. As with revenue, micro and small entities file no income statement, so for most companies this figure is not public.
